When a menstrual disc may not be the right solution for you

IS THE DISC FOR EVERY MENSTRUATING PERSON?

In most cases - yes!

But there are situations where it's better to wait a moment or chat with your gynaecologist.

There are no taboos in our friendship, we tell it like it is when a disc might not be the best choice.

FRESHLY AFTER CHILDBIRTH OR MISCARRIAGE

During this time, your body is in the process of healing, and your bacterial flora is particularly sensitive.

Set the disc aside and come back to it once you get the green light from a specialist.

AFTER GYNAECOLOGICAL SURGERIES

Your body needs time to regenerate.

After surgery, always talk to your doctor first.

INTIMATE INFECTIONS? TREATMENT FIRST!

Fungal, bacterial, or viral infections are times when it's best not to use the disc.

Take care of your health first, and then, feel free to go back to using your disc.

VERY LOW CERVIX

If you have a very low cervix, it may make it difficult to position the disc correctly.

Consult your doctor before you give it a try.

LACK OF COMFORT WITH INSERTION

If you aren't able to use tampons or insert a finger into your vagina, there's a good chance that using a disc will also be difficult for you.

In this situation, it might be worth waiting a bit longer to get comfortable with your body, or to look for the source of the discomfort. Consider seeking support from a urogynaecological physiotherapist.

PROLAPSE OF PELVIC MUSCLES AND ORGANS AFTER CHILDBIRTH

If your muscles and organs have descended after childbirth, the disc might not stay in place.

It's worth consulting a urogynaecological physiotherapist first to take care of the appropriate therapy.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

Every body is different—and that's OK! If anything causes you concern or you have questions, talk to your gynaecologist. Your comfort and health are what matter most!
