Before that first time

You stick a pad to your underwear, insert and remove a tampon, but using a disc? You have to learn – and not just how to use the product itself, but also your body and how it works.

That's why we want to let you know right away: the first, second, third, or twelfth time you use the disc, it might not work out – and if after several attempts it’s still difficult, you can write to us and together we’ll figure out what’s wrong. The most important thing is not to get discouraged or give up after a few unsuccessful tries, because it’s usually a matter of practice!

So – shall we learn together?

Remember!

Do you want to try the disc before you get your period? The Bestie is designed to be used only during your period – so it may be much more noticeable during tests if you happen to be in a different phase of your cycle. Why? The answer is simple: our anatomy is such that during your period, the vaginal tissues are swollen, making them less tense and sensitive. So don’t worry if you feel it – the most important thing is that it doesn’t cause discomfort once your period actually starts.

To start? Sterilization - put the disk into a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes.

Shall we start learning? Watch the instructional video or read the written instructions on how to insert and remove the disk.

First tests? Conduct them in a friendly space and at a time when you feel comfortable, to learn how to insert and remove the disk without stress.

How to insert the disc?

If you think it's complicated, don't worry, we've all been there. However, it only takes a few tries for the disc to become your new, convenient habit. Follow the instructions, and if you have any doubts - write to us!

Jak włożyc dysk?

Jeśli myślisz, jakie to skomplikowane, to spokojnie, każda z nas tak miała. Wystarczy jednak kilka prób, by dysk stał się Twoim nowym, wygodnym nawykiem. Podążaj za instrukcją, a w razie wątpliwości - napisz do nas!

01
Wash your hands and squeeze the disc!

Hands washed? Squeeze the elastic disc so that it is the width of a tampon – and don’t worry if it seems too long.

02
Set the appropriate page

On one side a tail, on the other a heart – it will show you the side to insert the disc into the sheath.

03
Insert the disc into the sheath

Position yourself comfortably – you can sit on the toilet, squat, or stand with one leg raised. While still squeezing the disc like a tampon, insert it into the vagina. Make sure the tail and the indentation next to it (the so-called rim) enter the vagina last.

Push the disc towards the tailbone until it is fully inside the vaginal canal. Don’t worry, you can’t insert it too deeply, but be careful not to place it too shallowly.

04
Find the anatomical "shelf"

Now you need to make sure that the disc "rests" on the anatomical recess, that is, the vaginal vault. Do this with the help of your finger and the recess located near the tail of the disc.
Gently insert your finger and push the front edge of the disc upwards so that it rests on the vaginal vault. Then check if it is stable.

You may feel a slight shaking of the disc in position – this is a sign that it is properly seated and ready for use.

Where is the menstrual disc located in the vagina?

How to remove the disc?

Before you start, make sure your hands are clean and you are in a comfortable position. The rest is just a few calm movements that will become natural to you after a few tries.

How to remove the disc?

You need to know that the disc is something innovative and you have to learn how to use it.
Sometimes it takes even several to a dozen attempts to get used to it! So don’t worry if it doesn’t work out the first time or if you don’t feel confident yet!

01
Wash your hands and relax!

Sit on the toilet or squat in the shower or bathtub. Try to relax your body – it will definitely be easier that way.

02
Find the loop

Insert a finger into the vagina and hook it onto the loop at the tail. Then start gently pulling the disc, making sure to remove it horizontally – this will help prevent blood from spilling (but if it happens at first, it’s absolutely normal).

03
Remove the disk

When the edge of the disc is at the entrance to the sheath, grab the indentation on the disc to gently squeeze it again. Then pour the contents into the toilet, bathtub, or shower.

04
Clean the disk

Remember hygiene at the end! Just rinse it with warm water and wash it with mild soap – and you can put it back in.

What about this tail?

The Bestie disk has a flexible tail that can be adjusted to your own needs:

Released

In this version, the tail is loosely released and therefore the easiest to remove – however, it may be too long for people with a lower cervix.

Wrapped

In this version, the tail is curled inward, which works great during sex and for people with a lower cervix.

Cut off

This is the PRO version for those who have been using the disk for a long time and remove it without its help by using only the indentation. We do not recommend cutting if you do not yet feel confident enough in this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Light or heavy period – which one is the disc best for?

Whether you have light or heavy days – a menstrual disc is your gamechanger!

Bestie menstrual disc holds approx. 50 ml. For comparison: that is significantly more than pads (5–8 ml), tampons (6–10 ml), or even cups (25–30 ml).

Did you know that during an entire period you usually lose only about 30–80 ml of blood?
On lighter days, this means: insert in the morning, remove in the evening. You can wear the disc for up to 12 hours stress-free. On heavier days, you are also protected — even if you bleed more than average, the disc is still a great solution — just empty it every 4–8 hours.

Note: If your period is exceptionally heavy, it is worth consulting a gynecologist.

I have a problem applying the disc – what should I do in this situation?

First of all – don’t give up on using the disc right away, it takes some practice! Use the instructional video available on our website (you can find the QR code on the packaging). However, if you need more support, have any questions, or feel like you’re doing something wrong, feel free to write to us on IG @hi.bestie.pl or by email hello@hibestie.pl. We will always respond and help!

Od what age can I use the disk?

It is best to start using it when the body stops growing. However, this is an individual moment, so it is best to consult with a gynecologist.

How to maintain disk hygiene?

Before the first and each subsequent period, sterilize the disc in a pot, stirring constantly, or soak it in boiling water in a pot for a maximum of 5 minutes.

During your period, it is enough to rinse the disc with water or neutral pH soap. Remember to rinse it with cold water first to remove blood residue. Only then can you wash it with warm water. Why? Warm water can cause the pigments in the blood to bind more easily to the silicone surface and lead to discoloration.

If there are brown stains on the disc, soak it overnight in hydrogen peroxide.

Despite the instructions, do you find using the drive difficult?
